Katharine Hepburn's Brownies

Katharine Hepburn's Brownies

8 tbsp. unsalted butter, plus more for greasing
2 oz. unsweetened chocolate
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup roughly chopped walnuts (I used pecans)
1/4 cup flour
1/4 tsp. fine salt
1. Heat oven to 325F. Grease an 8"X8" baking pan with butter. Line the pan with parchment paper; grease the paper. Set the pan aside.

2. Melt the butter and the chocolate together in a 2-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon. Remove the pan from heat and stir in the sugar. Add the eggs and vanilla and stir to make a smooth batter. Add the walnuts (pecans), flour, and salt; stir until incorporated. Pour the batter into the baking pan and spread evenly. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 40 to 45 minutes. Let cool on a rack. Cut and serve.

a couple quotes

“A painter paints pictures on canvas and  musicians paint their pictures on silence.

“~Leopold Stokowski

“Take  music, bath once or twice a week for a few seasons.  You will find it is to the soul

what a water bath is to the body. ‘ ~Oliver Wendell Holmes

“A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his

brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is

an artist.” ~ Louis Nizer

Mom's Favorite Saying!!

My mom says that God will never give you more than you can handle, and I really try to believe this,

because sometimes I think that I've been given more than I can handle. But it seems that I do have a

real instinct to survive, and I'm way too proud to let anything stop me or get in my way. And I have

way too many things to do on this Earth to let anything stop me.
